Sanjaya Sucks but Chris Sligh Might be Going Home

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Predictions for the bottom two this week are going to have to be Chris Sligh and Haley Scarnato. I predicting Chris Sligh will be going home. Chris’ super weak performance just isn’t going to cut it when everyone else steps it up each week. Jordin Sparks has certainly made the biggest strides and seems to have everything it takes to make it to the finals. Phil Stacey did a nice job with Every Breath by the Police, but he stil lacks the personality and spark to carry him to the final three. I don’t think Gina Glocksen did as well as Randy and Paula would have you believe. The Pretenders song was a great choice, and it was one of her better performances, but I think her weeks are numbered as well.

And when the hell is American going to vote of Sanjaya? Please already. He’s become a super annoying parody of himself. The hair the whole schtick, it’s obnoxious and noone takes him seriously - aside from 12-year-old girls.

Payton Manning SNL United Way Skit

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

For being a jock Payton Manning did a pretty good job hosting SNL. Definitely one of the funniest skits was the United Way skid sketch that opened the show.

Sanjaya Stays In. Antonella Voted Off.

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Well, I got a couple of my Idol Preditions right. In a stroke of comic cosmic luck Sanjaya Malakar was safe, and Antonella Barba was finally voted off. So I guess that means half of America is not tone deaf? I was shocked to see Haley Scarnato make it to the top 12. Sabrina Sloan should have had her spot. And as for Sundance Head being voted off. I’m not totally suprised, however Sanjaya should have been the one to go. I’m sure Sanjaya’s a nice guy and all but it’s a bit ridiculous at this point and for every week he stays in the joke gets bigger and bigger.

American Idol Recap - The Women Are Better Than the Men

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Tonight we’ll see the cast of American Idol whittled down to just 12. The women’s performances last night certainly outdid the mens. If there are any obvious winners at this point they would come from the womens group, not the men. Lakisha Jones, Melinda Doolittle and Stephanie Edwards are so far ahead of the pack it’s ridiculous. Even the best of the men - Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson - are clearly not in the same league.

Predictions for the vote tonight - Haley Scarnato is going home for sure. Bit tougher after that. I’m not sure the rocker appeal of Gina Glocksen is going to win votes, so I’d put her in the second spot. Unfortunately, I think Antonella Barba will hang on one more week. The beginning of her performance was dreadful, but she pulled it out at the end. Antonella and Sanjaya occupy the two mercy spots going into the Idol top 12.

American Idol Recap - The Guys Were Weak

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Weak performances this week from the remaining 8 guys. Only two standouts (and not by much), Chris Sligh and Blake Lewis doing a decent rendition of 311. Picking the bottom two this week is tough. Phil Stacey stumbled a bit this week and might see himself voted off, and there’s always Sanjaya Malakar who deserves to go home at any given moment. Jared Cotter also fell flat, and Sundance Head’s version of Pearl Jam will annoy any real Pearl Jam fan. So a tough prediction, but I think I’m going with Jared Cotter and Phil Stacey. Which mean Sanjaya makes the top 12 and the world might just explode on Thursday.

Jeff Goldblum’s New Show - Raines

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Jeff Goldblum has always playes off the wall characters, and he’s new show Raines, on NBC, looks to be more of the same. Not that it’s bad. It actually looks pretty funny, and odd. Check out the trailer. Jeff’s usually comic delivery with an interesting storyline about being a cop who can see and speak to dead people.
