Adrian Grenier Takes a Shot in the Dark

Shot in the Dark Graphic

As a fan of HBO’s Entourage I’m intrigued by the documentary Shot in the Dark. It’s directed by Adrian Grenier and chronicles his efforts to connect with the father he never know.

Adrian looks like a compelling actor. He’s funny on Entourage, though the whole show is really paper thin. I’m curious to see what else he’s about. A bit of a gutsy move for an actor to actually give up a real part of themselves on screen. Acting is one thing, but the real emotions connected to parental bonds are quite another. Worth a watch.

Cox DVR Cut Off the End of American Idol Finale

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Ah what a piece of crap. If you’re a Cox DVR owner and an American Idol fan you’re probably not real happy right now. Not sure about you, but my COX DVR (Scientific Atlanta brand) cut of the entire reveal of who won America Idol. Sweet.

This isn’t the first time I bitched about the DVR service. I ranted a while back on this wonderful pile of junk. Don’t you love having the end of your shows cut off.

Jordin Sparks This is My Now

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Who won American Idol? Jordin Spark of course. Glendale Arizona teenage Jordan Sparks won tonights American Idol. No doubt her version of This is My Now will played into the ground before you know it. Searches for the lyrics for This is My Now is already buzzing big in the engines.

Not a surprising result. Jordin winning over Blake Lewis was an easy one to call. This is My Now was definitely now suited for Blake and his version paled in comparision to Jordin’s and it definitely was the song that gave her the edge.

Apolo Ohno Wins Dancing With the Stars

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

I don’t watch this show much, at least not by choice. About the only thing worth noting is that I don’t think any of the women wear underwear of any sort, so, I guess it might be worth taking another look next season. Congratulations to Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough for winning Dancing with the Stars.

Jordin Sparks Will Win American Idol

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

It’s our final American Idol prediction of the season. The final with Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks was better than expected. It seemed to be a fair match up, but I think Jordin Sparks will walk away the winner of Idol. The final song was the nail in Blake’s coffin. To his credit it was NOT his type of tune. And then Jordin blew it out of the water. Considering this is a ’singing’ competition Jordin definitely deserves to win, but Blake’s definitely got potential.

Ryan Seacrest’s Slip Up - Melinda Doolittle Goes Home

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

I’ll have to rewatch last nights American Idol results show. There are some rumors floating around about some kind of Ryan Seacrest slip up with Melinda Doolittle. I must have missed it. Did Ryan slip up and let on who was going home first? Help me out here fine readers. What was the Ryan Seacrest slip up?

As for Melinda Doolittle being voted off. Not surprising. While it is a singing competition, who wins also has a lot to do with personality and connection with the audience. And while Melinda ‘no neck’ Doolittle was technically the best singer in the top 12, she lacked that spark, that ’something’ that people get behind. Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks definitely have it.

More on Seacrest’s slip up when I have the details. Go Jordin! )Yeah I like Blake too, but Jordin’s hometown - well, home state anyway). The Finale should be good, although predicitable Jordin Sparks will walk away winner of American Idol.

Earl Wins Survivor - Dreamz is a Liar

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Earl Cole Survivor Fiji WinnerAd Executive Earl Cole won Survivor Fiji last night. Earl received all nine votes, a survivor first. Yau-Man, though not in the final three, really was the number two player. Cassandra proved utterly useless and lazy and Dreamz showed himself to be a liar in the final tribal council.

Yau-Man’s expert play came when he offered Dreamz his Ford truck in exchange for immunity at the final four. Dreamz seemed pretty genuine with his offer to give it to Yau-Man, but renegged at the final moment which sent Yau-Man home.

Funny thing is Dreamz was screwed either way. If he had given up the immunity necklace as he promised he was have been voted off for sure - though ‘kept his word’. Instead he kept immunity for himself, which sealed his fate with the jury. He received no votes, proved not to be a man of his word and left people wondering if anything he ever said was really true. And you can bet Yau-Man had played out both of these strategies ahead of time. Smart guy.

As for Earl, he’s definitely a deserving winner. He played quiet the entire game, which seems time and time again to be a winning strategy. Ironically he never won a single immunity challenge, or received a single vote against him in tribal. Definitely one of the slickest, understated players the game as seen.

American Idol Predictions

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Well, it’s been a couple weeks since we really weighed in on our Idol bottom two or three. I’m guessing this week we’ll may finally see Lakisha voted off. Jordan Sparks can likely do no wrong at the point, which was proved by her terrible performance last week, and then NOT being in the bottom two spots. Lakisha’s suffered something over the last month. Personality issues, something. She just looked like she wasn’t connecting with people and lost her spark.

After Lakisha I say it’s a tose up between Melinda Doolittle and Blake Lewis. Blake should do well with the disco theme this week. Melinda, ah, not so sure.
