David Cook has won the battle of the David’s, defeating David Archuleta to win this year’s American Idol. David Cook was the marginal underdog heading into tonight’s final. Cooks final performance last night fell flat with judges as they gave the entire night to Archuleta as the winner. But the people have spoken and David Cook won Idol by a solid margin of nearly 12 million votes.

An opening day crowd at Fenway Park got a little more than they bargained for with an F-16 flyover. The fourth F-16 in the flyover formation was late and out of place. The pilot pulled a trick and and did a barrel roll over the three other jets. Yahoo reports the real-life ‘Top Gun’ maverick pilot has been suspended for the improper maneuver. Looked pretty cool actually, though it also looked like he almost collided with the F-16 on the right side of the formation.
